Frequently Asked Questions about Homeopathy

How do I take my remedies?

Take your remedies in a clean mouth. This means you should not have had anything in your mouth for at least 10 minutes either side of taking your pill or tablet. This includes eating, drinking, smoking or even brushing your teeth. Try not to handle the pills or tablets. Drop one into the palm of your hand and straight into your mouth, let it dissolve under your tongue, you can finish it by chewing it after a couple of minutes. Try to avoid drinking coffee immediately after taking your remedies as this could affect their action. The same goes for mint products. These should be avoided while taking a course of remedies.

How do I store my homeopathic remedies?

Store your remedies in a dry, cool place. Keep them away from strong smelling substances such as mint, camphor, eucalyptus as these can affect the action of the remedies. Also keep your remedies away from your mobile phone.

Can I treat myself with homeopathic remedies?

Yes, you can. The time to self prescribe with homeopathy is when you are suffering from minor acute ailments, not for chronic problems as these require more in depth knowledge of how the remedies work. I encourage my patients to buy a first aid kit. These kits contain homeopathic remedies for the most common acute conditions such as coughs, colds, cuts, minor burns, digestive disorders, and headaches. You can buy your kits directly from Helios or Ainsworths Homeopathic Pharmacies or you can buy them from me as I get bulk discounts which I pass on to my patients. I sell both the Helios 36 remedy kit and the Helios childbirth kits as well as the refill bottles. My patients often phone me when they are suffering from something acute between appointments and I can prescribe a remedy which they can take from their first aid kit. If you are unsure about taking a remedy, call a registered homeopath for advice.

Should I stop taking my other medications while using homeopathy?

No. Homeopathic remedies can be safely taken along with other medicines. It can be dangerous to suddenly stop taking a medicine which you have been using for some time and which has been prescribed by your doctor. If you want to come off a medicine then you should consult with your doctor before doing so. The remedies will not interfere with your other drugs, but you should consult your doctor before use when taking other medications. Pregnant women should consult their doctor or homeopath before using homeopathic remedies.
